Did you finish your manuscript with the greatest of pride and then sit back and realize you had no idea how to move forward? Did you agonize over grammar, the number of revisions, and the thousand other things you’ve heard you should do? Or perhaps it’s been a while since you had to edit your own work. If any of that is familiar to you, this is the perfect event. We are proud to have Christine as our first guest speaker at the Sherman Oaks NaNoWriMo Writing Group. She has graciously donated her time to share her experience and expertise with us! Christine will walk us though an end-to-end overview of the novel revision process. She will share helpful do’s and don’ts, tips of the trade and her professional advice on how to be successful in your self-revision process. Be sure to bring your questions for the Q&A session.

Topics:

  • You have a First Draft: What’s next?
    • Print it
    • Read it
    • Revise it
    • Get Feedback
  • Common Grammar & Style Mistakes
  • Writing Elements
  • References and Resource Suggestions
  • Recommended books and sites
  • Q&A

After the presentation, if there is time, Christine has generously offered to demonstrate the support that clients of Write for Success receive. Time permitting, Christine will meet one on one with authors who have submitted a 500 word excerpt to writeforsuccess@yahoo.com in advance of the event. All items will be reviewed in the order they are received. All submissions should be in MS Word format, 12 point double-spaced font, and should also include the following:

  • Author name & contact details?
  • What genre are you writing in?
  • What is the word count of the entire document (not just the excerpt)?
  • What is your goal (self-publication, traditional publication, or other – please specify)?

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn the revision process from an expert in the industry.  Reserve your seat now by submitting an RSVP on the Sherman Oaks NaNoWriMo Meetup Page: http://www.meetup.com/Sherman-Oaks-NaNoWriMo-Writing-Group/
